My Friday Thoughts – Should Book Reviews Talk About Spoilers?

Hello, people of the internet!

Whenever I look up reviews about books I am interested in, I tend to find two types of reviews: ones that talk about spoilers and ones that dare not even mention them. They are both equally good reviews, but it does leave me wondering this:

Should book reviews talk about spoilers?

Here is what I think! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Should Book Reviews Talk About Spoilers?”

My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?

Hello, people of the internet!

For those who don’t know, I very rarely do not finish books because there is always a chance the book may improve later on. Yes, it would be better if I just left them, but there is a voice in my head that constantly says, “You never know, maybe the book gets better? Why waste the opportunity?”

Why do I do this to myself?

However, there has been a book recently that I have tried to read, but I haven’t picked up nor, to be honest, want to pick up.

And that book is… Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?”

My Friday Thoughts – Books I Aim To Read This Month (June 2017)

Hello, people of the internet!

For those who don’t know, I have a monthly series called ‘Books I Aim To Read This Month’, where I pick out books I want to read by the end of the month. This has really helped me to control my TBR pile since I have the habit of getting more books, even though I have a load I haven’t read yet.

Let’s hope I have another successful month with these books! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Books I Aim To Read This Month (June 2017)”

My Friday Thoughts – The Book That Made Me A Reader Again

Hello, people of the internet!

I’ve been thinking recently about my whole reading experience, as in my reading experience throughout my whole life. I tend to say that I have always been a reader from the moment I began to read, but that isn’t strictly true. Heck, if I had always been a reader, then the book that made me a reader would be The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (which is legendary, by the way).

I hit a year long reading slump during my early teenage years, which is the longest reading slump I encountered so far. I changed as a person and the books I used to read became nostalgic, but not something I would read on a daily basis. Other people began to read romances, but at the time, it wasn’t my kind of book. I still read books, like the Harry Potter series, but not as often as I once did. For someone who always had a book to read to suddenly go through such a long slump, it was a very strange time.

So, it was time for me to explore books aimed at young teenagers. It took a while, but I found it.

This is the book that made me a reader again. Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – The Book That Made Me A Reader Again”

My Friday Thoughts – Non-Fiction I Want To Read

Hello, people of the internet!

A few days ago, I uploaded a ‘Classic Books I Want To Read‘ post and now I want to upload a post about a different kind of genre: the non-fiction!

There was a time when I read more non-fiction than fiction – I think I was about 10 or 11 years old – when I swapped around. Now I read a lot more fiction than I do read non-fiction.

So, here are the non-fiction books that I really want to read! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Non-Fiction I Want To Read”

My Friday Thoughts – I Ask Myself Strange Questions Related To Books And Writing

Hello, people of the internet!

Today, for ‘My Friday Thoughts’, I wanted to write a post about my reading as well as my writing and I wanted to do it in a very creative way. So, I thought I’d do a Q&A session, but instead of having someone ask me questions, I’d ask myself questions.

I do have friends who could do the asking if they wanted to (honest), but I thought for today’s post, I’d be able to do something very different and perhaps even funny, especially since if I ask myself questions. Imagine the comedic possibilities!?

So, here is my Q&A session with myself! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – I Ask Myself Strange Questions Related To Books And Writing”

My Friday Thoughts – What I Do When I’m In A Reading Slump

Hello, people of the internet!

For the first time since I’ve started this blog in November 2016, I have hit a reading slump. I am currently reading a book, but it isn’t gripping me as much as I had hoped. Not only that, but it’s incredibly miserable! Not a single emotion other than downright pure misery! The plot and its subject matter are miserable – along with characters who aren’t that interesting, it’s not a good start. Since I refuse to give up on a book, I will continue reading and see if I warm up to it. I will write a review of it at some point. Though I don’t recommend forcing oneself to read a book, I find this easier than giving up and then wondering if I gave up too soon. In other words, it’s not something I recommend everyone to do if they’re in a reading slump, but it’s something that strangely works for me.

However, for now, I am in a reading slump. Luckily, I have several ways that can help me get out of it!

So, without further ado, here is my list of six things I do whenever I’m in a reading slump! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – What I Do When I’m In A Reading Slump”
