My Friday Thoughts – Why I Regret Not Reading Romance Sooner

Hello, people of the internet!

I’ve been thinking recently about how my reading preferences have changed these last nine months. I have always been someone who read all sorts of genres, but romance wasn’t one of them. It was like this until last year when the first book blog I ever followed, The Little Contemporary Corner (Sarah, who is the co-founder of this blog, is my friend from University), had a Readalong event with My True Love Gave To Me last December and I joined in because I wanted to finally give the romance genre a go.

Turns out I love the romance genre, but it has left me wondering why I never actually gave romance a go years before. Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Why I Regret Not Reading Romance Sooner”

My Friday Thoughts – My Holiday Reading Experience

Hello, people of the internet!

I’ve been on holiday this week. It was a last minute decision and I went with one of my best friends to the Greek island of Kos. As you would probably expect (as I am an avid reader), I took a few books with me.

I spent a lot of time by the pool getting a tan (and sunburnt) and reading. It was very relaxing, but I noticed a few things that I thought would be fun to discuss.

Here they are! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – My Holiday Reading Experience”

My Friday Thoughts – #ReaderProblems

Hello, people of the internet!

I can safely say for the majority of my life, I’ve been a pretty avid reader. Of course, that means I have had my fair share of reader problems. However, they’re technically not problems – heck, I have problems with concentrating and understanding what I read, so that should be on this list. Instead, they’re problems along the lines of “I am a reader, and so these things happen to me quite a bit and I wonder if other readers have encountered them as well”. I hope it’s a somewhat comical post (I can’t promise you that it is), but I thought it would be a great idea if I told you my #ReaderProblems and, who knows, maybe you know what it’s like?

Without further ado, here are my five, personal #ReaderProblems!

(Why on earth did I make it into a bleeding hashtag? Well it’s too late now, I already edited the logo…) Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – #ReaderProblems”

My Friday Thoughts – Should Book Reviews Talk About Spoilers?

Hello, people of the internet!

Whenever I look up reviews about books I am interested in, I tend to find two types of reviews: ones that talk about spoilers and ones that dare not even mention them. They are both equally good reviews, but it does leave me wondering this:

Should book reviews talk about spoilers?

Here is what I think! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Should Book Reviews Talk About Spoilers?”

My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?

Hello, people of the internet!

For those who don’t know, I very rarely do not finish books because there is always a chance the book may improve later on. Yes, it would be better if I just left them, but there is a voice in my head that constantly says, “You never know, maybe the book gets better? Why waste the opportunity?”

Why do I do this to myself?

However, there has been a book recently that I have tried to read, but I haven’t picked up nor, to be honest, want to pick up.

And that book is… Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?”

My Friday Thoughts – Books I Aim To Read This Month (June 2017)

Hello, people of the internet!

For those who don’t know, I have a monthly series called ‘Books I Aim To Read This Month’, where I pick out books I want to read by the end of the month. This has really helped me to control my TBR pile since I have the habit of getting more books, even though I have a load I haven’t read yet.

Let’s hope I have another successful month with these books! Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – Books I Aim To Read This Month (June 2017)”

My Friday Thoughts – The Book That Made Me A Reader Again

Hello, people of the internet!

I’ve been thinking recently about my whole reading experience, as in my reading experience throughout my whole life. I tend to say that I have always been a reader from the moment I began to read, but that isn’t strictly true. Heck, if I had always been a reader, then the book that made me a reader would be The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle (which is legendary, by the way).

I hit a year long reading slump during my early teenage years, which is the longest reading slump I encountered so far. I changed as a person and the books I used to read became nostalgic, but not something I would read on a daily basis. Other people began to read romances, but at the time, it wasn’t my kind of book. I still read books, like the Harry Potter series, but not as often as I once did. For someone who always had a book to read to suddenly go through such a long slump, it was a very strange time.

So, it was time for me to explore books aimed at young teenagers. It took a while, but I found it.

This is the book that made me a reader again. Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – The Book That Made Me A Reader Again”
