September Summary

Hello, people of the internet!

I’ve been largely absent this month due to starting a new job. I didn’t realise how much time it takes from the week and so I took time off blogging in order to get used to my new job, responsibilities and routines. I’m honestly still getting used to it.

However, despite this, I’m happy with what I did manage to post in September and here they are! Continue reading “September Summary”

Summer Days and Summer Nights – Book Review

Hello, people of the internet!

Back last December, I read My True Love Gave To Me. It is a collection of short stories, written by various authors (who primarily write Young Adult fiction) about romance during the winter holidays; the whole collection is edited by Stephanie Perkins. You can read my review of it here. Once I found out another collection of short stories, also edited by Stephanie Perkins, which is about romance during the summer holidays, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

Just like my My True Love Gave To Me review, I’ve ranked my Top 12 favourites stories from the book. Even though I did like them all, there were some I liked more than others. Feel free to make your own list if you wish (and if you read the book!)

Also, I’ll be discussing each story in some detail, but nothing that will spoil them for you! Continue reading “Summer Days and Summer Nights – Book Review”

Books I Aim To Read This Month (July 2017)

Hello, people of the internet!

My personal reading challenges have been very successful, so why not continue? I won’t be reading as many books this month because I want to write more discussion posts – they are a lot of fun to write!

Anyway, enough about me and my aim to discuss (or rant) more about books, here are the two books I aim to read this month! Continue reading “Books I Aim To Read This Month (July 2017)”

My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?

Hello, people of the internet!

For those who don’t know, I very rarely do not finish books because there is always a chance the book may improve later on. Yes, it would be better if I just left them, but there is a voice in my head that constantly says, “You never know, maybe the book gets better? Why waste the opportunity?”

Why do I do this to myself?

However, there has been a book recently that I have tried to read, but I haven’t picked up nor, to be honest, want to pick up.

And that book is… Continue reading “My Friday Thoughts – The Book I Will Not Finish?”

The Pier Falls – Book Review

Hello, people of the internet!

I don’t think I read as many short stories as I should. Even though I write them now and again, I just don’t read a lot of them. They are interesting forms of literature and are just as powerful as novels. So when I came across this collection of short stories written by Mark Haddon, I was very interested. I have only read his most popular work, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and I realised that since Mark Haddon wrote that novel in a first person narrative from Christopher Boone, who has autistic-like behaviours, I didn’t know how he would write with other characters. To investigate further, I got this short story collection to see if his writing is just as brilliant here as it is with The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

So, I decided to present this review as a Top 9 list, showing you lovely people which stories I liked the most. Because who doesn’t like Top *insert number here* lists?

Anyway, enough about me and my love for lists, here is what I thought of Mark Haddon’s short story collection! Continue reading “The Pier Falls – Book Review”
